Prevent Duty

Prevent Duty Under the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015
Hopscotch has a duty to help protect children from being drawn into terrorism or extremism. This responsibility is known as the Prevent Duty and forms part of our wider safeguarding arrangements.
Children attending our holiday club may be exposed to a range of views and information, including through online content, media, or contact with others.
Radicalisation is the process by which an individual may come to adopt extreme views or be influenced towards harmful ideologies. This can happen gradually and may not always be obvious.
 For children, radicalisation may involve:
  • Exposure to harmful or inappropriate online content
  • Grooming or exploitation (online or in person)
  • Psychological manipulation or pressure
  • Encouragement to adopt intolerant or extreme views
  • Risk of emotional, psychological, or physical harm
Hopscotch recognises that radicalisation is a safeguarding concern. Our Prevent Policy works alongside our wider safeguarding and child protection policies, in line with Working Together to Safeguard Children and relevant Department for Education guidance
How We Meet Our Prevent Duty To fulfil our responsibilities
