The information we are given on a particular child, their parents and family members is confidential. This also applies to the organisation and management of Hopscotch, other staff members and their families.
Staff members are only permitted to use notebooks or similar for children’s observations when these have been provided by Hopscotch and approved by a member of the Nursery Management team. Any notes relating to children or colleague must be kept at the nursery and not taken off site in any circumstance (unless authorised by a Senior Manager for work purposes).
Staff members must share their information appropriately only where relevant and when authorised to do so, whilst at the same time maintaining the policy on confidentiality. This includes the use of Famly.
Staff members must never discuss a child, their family or other staff members, or the organisation and management of Hopscotch with a non-relevant member of staff, another parent or anyone outside of nursery.
All requests for information on children, their family or any staff members from other parents or outside agencies must be passed to the Nursery Manager.
This confidentiality policy must be adhered to at all times, even outside of working hours. Staff must be especially aware of their responsibilities when using mobile phones, the internet and electronic social networking sites. Staff must not share information, photos or make any comments which could compromise nursery confidentiality, bring Hopscotch into disrepute or damage Hopscotch reputation with parents, visitors, agencies such as Ofsted, suppliers, or existing and future employees.
It is important for staff to maintain their status as professional childcare workers and therefore they are strongly discouraged from fostering online friendships with parents. Staff members should not discuss or comment on any aspect of their work or the operation or management of Hopscotch with any parent or other person. Staff members are required to take all necessary steps to always safeguard the public image of Hopscotch and work towards upholding positive relationships with its parents, outside agencies, suppliers and members of the public.
Any breach of confidentiality by verbal, written or electronic means could invoke disciplinary procedure depending on the outcome of any associated investigation.
